Draft 1 - Reflections

this is the full finished version of my groups first draft. titled reflections linking in with the narrative of the film. Beginning filming was a bit problematic, as someone was late so we wasted a lot of time at the beginning of the day. This then meant that filming couldn't be done on one day as thought and had to run on into two days. To correct this, we should agree to be very strict with our timings and all make sure we stick to responsibilities and understand that other members are relying on each other. Aside from that, filming went very well, we stuck to the story board and worked together. We fulfilled the roles that we picked at the start of the year and took turns to film. Editing wise I put together the main body of work on a tuesday, after school. It took about 2 hours then the rest of the group came the next day and we finished the few remaining bits like adding music. I have learned that I do not like waiting around for people and would rather start early that start late e.g. 1/2pm in addition to this i dont mind working alone to get the work done and meet the deadlines in good time, although it is better if we work as a group.

ASSESSMENT!
GROUP LEVEL: 2

  • variety of shots
  • team cohesiveness on the day

  • make the dad character clear
  • make the father drink something more harsh instead of beer
  • shaky camera
  • teddy bear/phone= too obvious/cheesy
  • short
  • change credits, the current ones seem like the end of a film

  • longer shots of her face
  • show footage of an U/D grade essay instead of 'failed'
  • remove white transitions, just shoot a thought shot

PRELIMINARY TASK (EVALUATON)

This is our preliminary task!

EVALUATION
  • Smoothness in panning 0.20-0.26secs is very shaky and unsteady
  • Diagetic sounds give away different filming times EG the wind at 0.37secs
  • At some points the editing is choppy
At some points the diagetic sounds chop and change showing different takes and editing choices.

Continuity and cohesion with script. Emanuella says " or do i need to say it in french " while holding a history textbook after she just pointed at it implying she was holding a french textbook.

Our attempt at the 180* rule is clear but not executed properly as we carry on till about 270* therefore placing the characters in different positions than what they were presented to the audience.

Learning about the equpiment

To be able to film our preliminaries and our opening sequence we needed to learn about the equipment.

I LEARNT HOW TO:

  • Work the tripod (extending the legs, attachment where the camera sits at the top of the tripod)
  • Paying attention to the spirit level so I always know the camera is level
  • How to record
  • How to put the tape in the camera

Introduction to MACS

In one lesson our teacher showed up the ins and outs of iMovie and how we can use it to edit our preliminary tasks. In the lesson I learnt how to record, edit and use different transition effects on iMovie. We also learnt the difference between MACS and PCS. Learning simple things like filing and saving a document.

Feedback: Reserach and Planning

WWW:
  • balance between written word and spoken information
  • The locations
  • Planning that went into the work
EBI
  • There was an introduction
  • Work balance was fair
  • BBFC information was more developed
TARGETS
  1. Have more group work so there is more continuity in slides
  2. Go further into connotations
  3. Learn how to be more specific = less writing
